>read onThe President, Committee & Members of the Y Rowing Club are saddened to learn of the passing of Loretta, a former esteemed Coxswain & Coach in her younger years. We convey our condolences to her family & friends. "Easy Oar'
Although not in touch for a number of years I was saddened to hear of Loretta’s death. I was able to think back not only to our school years but also the many fun times we had together at the rowing club. She worked tirelessly in many roles at the club while also being a fun member who was always keen to catch up for a drink and a meal. I am currently traveling but when friends get together we will raise a glass to Loretta- a warm and fun person in life
Loretta was such an inspiration and role model for me in my early teens. She would drive me to the YWCA rowing club 2-3 times a week and we had such fun chats together, I especially remember almost being airborne over the Brewer Road bridge!! Loretta was a mentor to me as a coxswain, being so young and she was always kind in her instruction, knowing that her influence was immense to a 12 year old girl ❤️ I will never forget such kindness. Although we had not connected for many years, she had a profound influence in my early life. Loretta was so considerate that she organised a “best coxswain” trophy for me in 1981, even though I was definitely 2nd to her, that’s how her character was, always looking out for others! Vale Loretta, I don’t think I ever really expressed my gratitude, but I know that you were a truly compassionate soul.
My sincere sympathies to Loretta's family & friends. I was sad to learn of her passing, she was a dedicated and talented coxswain for many of the crews I coached at the YWCA Rowing Club in the '80s. "Easy Oar"
