As a ‘long lost’ sister to Dave’s widow, Chris, I had the pleasure of meeting Dave at his care home when my hubby and I visited Chris in 2018. It was a lovely thing to do to put a name to man who had worked so hard. My sister has gone up and beyond with the care of Dave, now is the time for both Dave and Chris to gather breath and move on. Dave had been an excellent provider, his three sons can attest to this. My thoughts have been with my sister and I will do whatever I can to support her, not easy living in the UK.

I (Jan) only saw Dave about a half a dozen times whenI stopped by Chris' house to pick her up for a get-together/shopping spree. Each time I met Dave he was full of beans and was very friendly and always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. Sadly, Daryl didn't get the chance to meet him. Dave, you are now at peace and your memories will stay in our hearts. With our love, Jan & Daryl Carter

Well, Dave, this year we would have celebrated our 60th year of marriage, what an achievement that would have been...never mind, we have had a good life together of course with ups and downs, but 6 months after getting married in UK, we decided to migrate to this wonderful country Oz...it has been quite an adventure for us both but it has been successful, producing 3 fine sons ...you were such a diligent, hard worker (work always came first didn't it?) Your sense of humour which you were famous for, helped along the way many times ...you were a good provider and always wanted the best for our family.
I will miss you terribly but know that you are in a better place and now at peace.
Love you always,
Chris xoxo

RIP Dave(Uncle Dave)❤️
I’m so glad I met Chris 36 years ago. You all made me feel part of your family from the start. I will miss your stories, your cheeky grin and laugh. I loved the times you gave me a green ginger wine or a sneaky port.
My kids grew up loving you and I’ll always remember our Xmas get togethers, which were such happy times. They all have fond memories of Uncle Dave.
I’ll always look after Chris, and she’ll be surrounded by love and
support.
You are now in peace and flying high. Love you Dave❤️❤️

To the Charlton family
Our deepest condolences in this sad time - we send all our love.
Dave and Chris and their family greatly helped me personally get on my feet in this country. He gave me support and kindness and sage advice. And for that reason I have the fondest of memories of such a kind and generous gentle man.
Our hearts go out to all the family.

Dearest Pa Dave,
There's so much we did together
When I was Growing up.
Going out to places and having lunches
The fondest of memories
Is when you came to see me one day
And took me for a drive in your 1972 Volkswagen.
And showing me the silver plated badge on the dashboard on the left.
And saying to me that is the only sliver plated badge on the type of Volkswagen you would say it was one of a kind.
You always loved telling stories about the time you served in the Royal Air Force.
And Working at The Mitcham Broad of works.
And I remember you telling me on a hot summers day that when you were a kid in England growing up in Coulsdon.
You got injured by a sharp wided fence
During the war.
And your Mum treated you after the accident.
And she clamped your leg together.
I ask you if I could see the scar on your left leg and you showed me.
That was Absolutely Awesome.
Other memory is that both of us were very interested about the history of the Titanic ship.
You had a book all about
You and I
Went to the antique shop in tyabb
And you bought me the papers about the Titanic.
You were so pleased that I was so interested.
And you telling me stories about your Mum and dad who you loved and missed dearly.
You didn't like certain foods when you were a kid and you would stick them under the dinner table.
You would show me family heirlooms
Which all as a remarkable story to be heard.
You loved walking in the morning to the shops to get the newspaper.
You would read the paper and mentioned something to your interests.
Your words were there is something on the newspaper today.
I remember you sitting on the clina
Liping the Green Ginger wine you Enjoyed a drop in moderation.
You
Loved your porridge for breakfast in the morning having a coffee with your very special cup with the Volkswagens on them and I remember you sprinkling horlicks over the porridge lol.
when I would stay and sleep over.
I enjoyed every Saturday seeing you and having a salad Roll together.
The greatest memories of all is when you had a teddy bear with the Red nose
And we would play together and you'd pretend that the teddy bear had allergies sneezing all over us
It was hilarious.
Your loved your books and Reading
I remember you had one particular book of old movies stars you found two pictures
Of Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe.
You turned to me and said you see my wife over there I replied Yeah.
You responded my Wife Chris is more beautiful than Elizabeth and Marilyn
And looked straight at her
Chris Replied Oh Yeah Right.
You Pa Specially enjoyed watching bargain Hunt on television
At 6:30 in the dinning room
Those were the days.
I missed it so much and you Pa Dave I will always Cherish the Amazing times we spent together.
Miss you lots wish we could continue
On forever
Your Grandson Jarryd.

My darling pa,
I will always remember the memories we share together, the earliest was you pushing us grandkids around in the wheelbarrow at the back of Thurleigh Ave, blowing bubbles and having fun in the shed. You also taught me how to colour-in and read me lots of books, (mostly the ones you loved) you spoke about your love for cars and trucks especially Kenworths! history and your life in England. I will always miss our Saturday lunches, you'd always sit at dining room table with the newspaper and say "hello" and always give me a kiss, I'll always miss that. You'll always be in my heart and I'll cherish our memories forever.
Love you always Pa.
Rhiannon x

The memory of us sitting at the dining room table, playing a game of doctors. We performed heart surgery on Teddy, I was the surgeon and you were my assistant.
This is my favourite memory of us and you told me I could become a surgeon!
I may not be a surgeon, but I’ve gone down the medical path.
I know you would be proud, and thank you for inspiring me to follow my dreams.
Love you always pa,
Lily x
