Eddie and Millie have been part of my life since a quarter century. They complimented each other in their zest for life. This is what I will always remember. Prayers for Eddie's soul. May the good Lord embrace Millie, Candice, Rochelle and family. He was proud of you his family.
RIP and Millie stay blessed 🙏
Remembering U.Eddie from the time spent in Mumbai to seeing him in Melbourne. His strong presence and belief in his daughters as they navigated through life was certainly an inspiration. We recall many chats and get togethers where we shared our thoughts and ideas.
Our deepest condolences to A.Millie, Candace, Ro, Francis, Ranjit and Caelan. May his soul now rest in peace!
My dad Alexander, mum Rose, my sisters and I are deeply saddened at the passing away of Uncle Eddie (a brother and Uncle).
We offer our heartfelt sympathy to Aunty Millie, Candace/ Francis & Caelan, Rochelle/ Ranjit and pray that our good Lord may bring you all consolation during this time.
We continue to pray for the repose of Uncle Eddie's soul and offered a Holy Mass at St. Peter's Church.
Yours in grief,
André Gomes
Mr. Eddie Gomes was a valued member of our Security Team at McKinsey & Company, Mumbai for almost 15+ years. He played an important role in keeping our office running safely and smoothly. He made a real difference to all of us, and because of the commitment and quiet reliability he brought to work every day, we always knew things were in good hands – which meant we had a lot less to worry about.
We are grateful for his care, commitment, professionalism and quiet dedication he shared throughout his time with us at McKinsey. He will be remembered with respect and admiration.
We are indeed deeply saddened to hear of his passing and wish his spouse Mrs. Millie Gomes, his daughters, and their families the courage and strength to carry forward his legacy.
May his soul rest in eternal peace!
Dear Millie, Candace/Francis, Rochelle /Ranjeet and Caelan.
It was with a very heavy heart that I learned of the passing of Eddie.
Eddie was a gentleman with a large heart. I will always remember him for his kind and generous ways. Our families have shared a strong connection in Bombay and this has continued in Melbourne. We have had many good times together.
May God give you the strength to bear this very sad loss and may Eddie’s soul rest in peace.
With our love and prayers,
Pat Fonseca and the family.
Our sincere condolences to
Millie, Candace, Francis, Rochelle, Ranjeet and Caelan
Eddie, we didn't speak often and maybe we weren't close, but your presence still mattered. You didn't need to be loud to be noticed specially at parties. We always admired your calm demeanor.
Unfortunately, in recent years life took you into a different reality and you weathered it with no complaints but with just being happy and a smile.
Eddie your life was a blessing and your memory will on.
Rest In Peace dear Eddie.
With deepest sympathies
Joe, Osvie and family.
Mr Gomes was a very helpful gentleman by heart. I know he used to personally warn workers for small thefts and take action only if they didn’t change. Salute him for the way he handled the lockout.
Thorough gentleman.
I had spent many times in his cabin.
May he rest in peace. Condolences to his family.

I knew Mr. Gomes from the year 1975. However, we became closer after his retirement – when he came to our firm for his tax advice. Since then we had been close friends. I have seen his daughters grow up, emigrate, and make their own families. I am a witness to Mr. Gomes’ & Mildred’s love for their daughters – which made the couple emigrate to Australia.
A tough Security manager at HUL, he was a loving father and a family man.
I and all from my firm pray for joy and peace for Mr. Gomes’ soul; and we also wish a peaceful, quiet life for Ms. Mildred. It will be difficult for her without Mr. Gomes. May God bless Ms. Mildred.

We have first known Eddie as a good neighbour in Mumbai from the early 80's. An all weather helpful friend held in high esteem by all he interacted with. When in need for help Eddie along with Millie could be relied on. Hospitals, Airports, Embassies ---- you name it. We will miss Eddie, may his soul rest in peace. Marlen & Max - Goa, India.
I will always remember Eddie Gomes as a stalwart of Hindustan Lever, Bombay Factory.
He was much senior to me when I joined. As Security Manager of Bombay Factory he had a demanding job which required him to be tough to enforce discipline but he was always able to blend in compassion towards staff.
Under his seemingly stern exterior, I found Eddie to be a very gentle, soft-hearted, kind, helpful and warm person. When he smiled his eyes wouid light up. As I was younger, it took me a few years to change from calling him Mr. Gomes to calling him Eddie, and yes in time we became close family friends.
He had excellent connections with the Police and was often called upon to use his contacts in his role in Bombay Factory. Later when I moved to HO Shares department I would interact with him whenever we needed help, eg at the shareholders AGMs, factory visits etc. Often my HO friends and colleagues would request me to talk to Eddie if they needed to access his connections.
We kept in touch even after he moved to Australia.
Though he had settled in Melbourne, he would still try to assist ex colleagues and at times contacted me about people who needed help with their HLL shares.
Carol and I are sad to lose a good friend. Our sincere condolences to Millie, Candace, Rochelle and their families.
Darryl and Carol Mendonsa,
(Auckland)
May his soul rest in peace.
Heartfelt condolences to his family.
Eddie resembled a coconut, tough exterior, soft interior. A very lovable person. May his soul RIP. May the Almighty give strength to his family at this time of grief.
RIP Eddie , we miss you
Sad but I expect Eddie attained peace after a good life with his near and dear family.
I will recall him with warm memories.
I was very sorry to hear of the passing away of Eddie Gomes. He was one of those special people from Bombay Factory and was always very helpful. I interacted with him a great deal, specially during the Bombay Factory lockout. My condolences to the entire family. May his soul rest in peace.
Sorry to learn about Mr Gomes demise. A very competent Security Officer and a perfect gentleman. He was a great support in dealing with IR issues in general and during the one year lockout at Sewari factory in particular.
Condolences to his family and prayers to God Almighty to give them the fortitude to bear the loss. May he rest in peace.
MK has put it so well!
Besides what he has said, Eddie Gomes was intensely loyal to the Co.
Eddie was a pillar of strength for me during the troubled times when I served as General Factory Manager,Bombay Factory.
Also for my wife, when during the strike/ lockout in 1988/89. We were living in Bakhtawar on 1st floor and one afternoon when she was resting in the bedroom with our less than 1 yr old baby ( his wedding is on 25-27 Nov near Delhi),with the bedroom door leading to the balcony open, a thief climbed into the bedroom from the balcony. She yelled " chor, chor" etc, where-upon, the thief, after abusing her, fled. Thereafter she immediately phoned Eddie Gomes and in less than 30 min he arrived from the Factory accompanied by the police. Meanwhile the exits from the compound had been sealed, on his advice, to prevent the culprit escaping from the building. On arrival, he set about questioning/ interrogating everybody in the building stilt parking on Gr Fl. in his typical systematic and thorough manner. Seeing that all exits from the compound had been sealed, the thief used the service stairs to climb to the 4th Fl and from there stole a waiters white uniform which he donned and descended to the garage. When he was questioned by Eddie my wife recognised his voice and Eddie handed him over to the Police.
This is just one instance to add to Hrishi's where he was so very helpful to not just us managers but our families as well.
So sorry to hear this - heartfelt condolences to his family. In the early 90’s , I had a company driver, Gulzar, a devout Muslim. During the riots, though he sent his family back to the village, he stayed on saying that though he lived in a Hindu neighborhood, he was safe. Many of his neighbours were his friends. He called me one morning to say in a trembling voice that his house was surrounded, and he feared for his life. I immediately called Eddie. In minutes, he despatched a factory Jeep and also mobilized the police. Gulzar was saved in the nick of time. We hid him for a number of days in the HO garage. Eddie was the nonchalant hero! He told me that he only did his duty. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
May the God bless his soul.
I deeply regret to learn about the passing of Eddie Gomes. I had the privilege of working with him during my tenure at BF. A tough minded manager when it came to security issues during those challenging IR days and yet he, at a personal level, was an incredibly noble soul, always helpful to managers and supervisors. A man of presence and self discipline. He teamed up well with the rest of us and gave unqualified support.
May the Lord give the family the strength to face this irreparable loss. RIP dear Gomes
Eddie was an outstanding human - ever ready to help. Heart of gold coupled with steely resolve whenever needed.
May his soul rest in peace
During late 70s, when I was staying in Bandra, self, Dr Vinod Karnik, Anil Dixit were regular participants in Gome's New year eve dance parties at his home on Dr Peter Dias Road in Bandra. Though he appeared tough , he was a soft social being. When I came back to Bombay from GRF in 78, he helped me getting admission for my daughter in St Joseph's convent in Bandra, An influential person he was.
My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members
May his soul rest in peace.

Very sorry to hear of the passing away of Eddie Gomes. In 1977 my first day of joining BF, He was standing in the gate,a tough guy on face but very soft spoken, asked me about the dept I am joining, guided me and wished me good luck. There after he was always very helpful. When I shifted to cogen as a cogen engineer if we couldn't interact for days, he used to call me and enquire about my health and family. My condolences to his family.

May his soul rest in peace 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
May his soul rest in peace 🙏
Very sad. I have had the privilege of working very closely with him in Bombay Factory. We often " rescued" each other from gheraos etc during those very difficult times. His report on every union leader's movements during the day was how our day began in RRs office and then Mr. Ginde and then Sudhir Goyal. Tough, matter of fact, fearless and superbly connected with the authorities to get help. Lived in Bandra and then moved out. Very sorry to hear of his passing away. RIP Gomes. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🫡🫡
I remember Eddie Gomes' big contribution in our BF campaign team. RIP Eddie.
🕉 Shanti

Heartfelt Condolences A. Millie, Candice & fly, Rochelle & fly
We are deeply saddened by the loss of U. Eddie. He was a truly helpful and resourceful person, always ready to lend a hand and uplift others. His warm appreciation for A. Millie's cooking and the pride he carried for his daughters, Candice and Rochelle, were always evident in the way he spoke about his family when we visited them in Bandra. Will always remember him in his sporting outfit all ready for a walk on the promenade in the evening.
May his gentle soul rest in peace, and may God give comfort and strength to the family during this difficult time.
My deepest condolences goes out to A. Millie, Candace, Rochelle and their families. May the good Lord comfort them during this difficult time. We have such fond memories of our frequent visits to their welcoming home in Bandra. With love. Eddie
Remember Eddie well from Bombay Factory days. May God grant peace to his soul. 🙏
Extremely sad to learn about Eddie Gomes’ passing. He was a most loyal, dedicated and competent Manager, a real asset for BF and HUL. As Security Head, he lent gravitas to the function and his presence was a source of confidence for BF management. He had a strong information system and his role during the tough IR times was invaluable. A perfect gentleman , Eddie was polished and very correct in his demeanour. A big loss of a veteran. May his soul RIP

Dear Millie,
Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing away of Mr. Gomes.
We met as colleagues, but quickly it turned into friendship where we would talk beyond work.
What most endeared him to me was that he was a great family man loved his wife, loved her cooking, and would describe in detail what was cooked for dinner the previous evening. He would talk about his two daughters with so much love and say how proud he was of them.
He became a brother for me, I looked upto him, learnt a lot from him, and always admired his courage to go head on into a difficult situation.
Mr. Gomes you will be truly missed. There were miles between us, but you were always in my heart and will always stay there forever.
With love
Celine

My condolences to you and your family. Uncle was so nice and humble. May his soul rest in peace.
For my father, mother and me, Eddie uncle (and Mildred aunty) were synonymous to being family.
As I grew up, with my dad working in Hindustan Lever as transport manager, his friend, car pool buddy and partner in crime was Mr Eddie Gomes.
So Eddie uncle was a fixture in our family.
During non working hours, Eddie uncle would be striding up and down the seaface at bandstand way before it became a promenade.. and when done with his walk he would come up to say hello to my dad. It was a ritual! White shorts, white shirt, I can still visualise his fast pace day after day!
But Eddie uncle was also an institution. As head of security of HLL, Eddie uncle held his head high, proud of the job he held and the respect that people gave him.
His contacts and friendships extended way outside HLL.. so when friends like us would have road accidents, who would we reach out to in times like this.. Eddie!
He was always there, with his stern but warm face - always on the side of justice and never playing games whoever it be.
He held trust both from the side of friends and police and higher ups everywhere.
But Eddie uncle was family: mum, dad, and me were fixtures at all his family dos.. we would enter his house with the smell of Mildred aunties delicious pork Goan dishes and music playing!
Eddie uncle and Mildred aunty moved to Australia for more years than i remember. But my mother, Shireen and I are deeply saddened that he is no more in this world!
My first thought when I heard of his passing was.. my dad will have Eddie for company again.. it gave me some comfort!
May his soul rest in peace always and for the family who have lost him, our deepest sympathies.
Eddie was a truly remarkable gentleman — devoted, dependable, and a man of deep integrity and values. He was someone you could always turn to, and someone we deeply admired.
Though your’ll
moved to Melbourne, it was always a pleasure to meet him whenever he was back in India. His warmth, his quiet strength, and his genuine goodness will always be remembered by all of us who were blessed to know him.
You all are in our prayers
Dear Millie and family🙏
RIP Dear Eddie you will
be missed.

In Memory of Eddie
We gather our thoughts today to remember Eddie — a true friend, a devoted family man, and a person whose integrity defined him. Eddie was someone who lived his life with honesty, loyalty, and a strong sense of responsibility. You could always depend on him, because he believed in doing what was right, quietly and consistently.
He cared deeply for his family and took pride in every role he held — as a husband, father, and friend. Eddie valued relationships, and he treated people with fairness, respect, and genuine goodwill. His presence brought a sense of steadiness, and his straightforward nature made him someone we trusted without hesitation.
Eddie’s passing leaves a noticeable gap in our circle, but we remain grateful for the time we shared with him and for the example he set. His sincerity, his reliability, and his clear sense of values are qualities we will always remember.
May Eddie rest in peace, and may his family and friends find comfort in knowing that he lived a life marked by goodness, loyalty, and honesty. Will miss you Eddie. Rest in peace. Love Vini and Raksha
Uncle Eddie was a strong principled man. He was also a generous man, always helping others. He was instrumental in getting me settled into my college in Mumbai. I remember he surprised me once at the hostel by calling me from our new landline (it was so difficult to get in those days). When you think of Uncle Eddie, you can't help thinking of respect & courage, two pillars he lived his life with. We know that he's in a better place, away from the suffering. My deepest condolences to my Godmother and my cousins Candy & Ro, Francis, Ranjit & Caelan.
