So sad to see you go cuz
We had only just reconnected after so many years. Life is short and we took too long
I still remember the days in the old Tanti Park where we used to muck around in your parents shed getting in all sorts of strife. You welcomed us when we emigrated and helped settled us in the new country.
RIP John.

Cant believe you’re gone Johnny. Thank you for teaching me when I first started as a dock hand in Southland. I wouldn’t be where I am today without your guidance. Thankful for all the laughs and good times we shared, I didn’t get to properly say goodbye mate and for that I hope you forgive me. Rest in peace, John.

So sorry we couldn’t be there to say goodbye.
In my heart, my memories of you will forever be linked with Aunty Bev’s house, our visits to Melbourne, and the power of family and friendship all rolled up into one.
Can’t believe you left us so soon.
Rest easy John xx
Love Mel, Tom, Jaxon and Ally

We still can’t believe the news . For the nearly 40 years we have known John, he has been the little brother ‘our John’ as referred to by his family. A man of few words (probably couldn’t get one in!) with a very dry sense of humour who clearly adored his girls, his partner, was very protective of his big sister (would never admit it) and loved his wider family with a quiet steadiness. Rest in peace John. Sincerest condolences to Julie and family xx

Mr John Thomas Smith or sometimes Johnny, I can’t believe you’re gone.Mate I just wanted to say thank you for the 5 years we had working together at southland. We had plenty of laughs and fun together while always getting the job done.As a boss you made it enjoyable to go to work. Also thanks for letting alannah come sometimes during school holidays as you would always spoil her rotten with ice creams . She would always ask about you and how you were going ,years after we’d finished up there.
RIP
