For Nick
“I’ve been looking so long at these pictures of you…”
It’s been 10 days since I learned
the heartbreaking news of your death.
And all these memories are mingling in my mind:
Dancing in Bright on a January night
Watching flirty French flicks
Swapping tapes and CDs,
sharing our fave indie picks
Sending each other Dad jokes
and uber-bad memes
You shyly telling me about
the girl of your dreams
(You were in love with Olivia de Havilland,
aka Miss Melanie Hamilton)
Yet you are not gone with the wind…
No, you live on in our broken hearts
These pictures of you, scattered across
the dance-floor of the mind, show:
A gentleman, a comedian
A lovely, loveable larrikin
A kid-whisperer, a great storyteller
A trickster, a pisser, a top end adventurer
A shit-stirrer, a silly duffer
A gun at trivia, a devoted Bomber
A music lover
A much-loved brother
A tender teacher
A charming dreamer
You made one of my dreams come true -
when we sang and danced just metres
from Morrissey at Festival Hall!
“Can you squeeze me into an empty page of your diary?”
More than a page,
you’re a chapter in my book
And in the books of all who loved you
You passed with a look
of peace on your face
A smile “Just like Heaven”
A glimpse of grace…
Love Angeline
We are so shocked and saddened by Nicholas leaving this world too soon. It feels unfair and he will leave a gap in the lives of all who knew him.
With love,
Peter and Helen, Nicholas and Meredith
Dear Aunty Collette & family ,
Thinking of you all and sending our love at this sad time . Too many loved ones gone so soon. I have fond memories of Nicholas , Kelly and I loved staying at your place on school holidays, hanging with the boys,(Catherine came along later)board games, wearing out the trampoline, cooking cakes, even bible studies😊. Kelly and I remember Nicholas getting upset as I said he looked like Martin Sheen 🤭 I meant Charlie Sheen, he liked that . I’ll cherish our chats on Facebook and will find comfort knowing Nick is up there with Uncle Peter and all our loved ones . God Bless , Tania, Rick & girls xxo ❤️❤️
Dear Collette
I am saddened to hear of the passing of Nicholas. Growing up, your family was our extended family. I have lovely fond memories of the many hours us children spent playing tiggy and other games outside, late into the night, in both Melton or Sunshine and the shared camping adventures.
My best wishes to Antony, Simon, Matthew, Marcus, Peter and Catherine.
Xx

I went to university with Nick back in 1992-1995 at ACU. Nick came to my 21st birthday and brought all his brothers with him, I suppose for a bit of moral support or a quick exit. It has been a very long time since I've seen Nick and I had no idea he was unwell.
Nick: it was a bit of a shock to hear of your death. Rest in Peace. My condolences to your family and loved ones.
Dear Marcus, my deepest condolences to you and your family. Keeping you all in my prayers. Olive
